Orillia Terriers KING of the Tournament
Whole Team Effort, is an excellent way to describe the dominance that the Moonstone Mechanical Novice A team exhibited at the King Rebellion Fall Classic on the weekend.  The Terriers went 5-0 to capture the tournament title over a fast Cambridge Hawks team.  Standing strong in net, Sam Weaver and Gunner Wolfe allowed only 4 goals in the 5 games.  Each member of the spirited team contributed to the championship win, both defensively and offensively.

In game 1 of round robin play, the Terriers beat the Hawks 3-1 on goals from Eric Shellswell, Jackson Cook and Hudson Inglis. Assists went to Ronin Black (2) and Shellswell. In game 2, the Terriers came up against host King Rebellion. The Terriers earned a 7-1 win, goal scorers were Inglis (2)  Jack North (3), and Brock McKay (2), assists went to goalie Sam Weaver, North, Craig Scott, Jackson Long, Shellswell, Graydon King, Preston Tryon and Josh May.  The Terriers were too much for the Brampton 45’s, as Gunner Wolfe and Sam Weaver combined to shut the team out, while offensively their teammates scored 11 goals.  Goal scorers were Colton Sharland,  Tryon (2), Inglis (2), Scott (2), May, North, Mc Kay and Cook.  Assists went to May (2), McKay, Scott, Shellswell, Cook, North and Inglis.  An early morning semi final game did not slow the Terriers down.  Meeting Brampton for the second time in less than 24 hours, the Terriers picked up where they left off in the previous days game, handing the 45’s a 9-0 loss. Josh May led the way with a hat trick and 2 assists, Mc Kay, Jackson Long, North, Tryon and Ronin Black each added singles. Jackson Cook (2), Long, North, Inglis (3), Kyson Campbell, Shellswell, North and Black added assists.

The championship was a fast, back and forth game; with both teams showing dominance in the offensive end. The Terriers came out slower than the Hawks in the first and found themselves behind a goal after one period.  However, in the second Black tied the game at 1-1 from a Cook pass. The Terriers went up 2-1 in the second, with May feeding Inglis a pass that he made sure found the back of the net.  Cambridge was not going to just let the Terriers have the championship as they tied the score at 2 a piece.  Third period scoring was all blue and white, as Cook and Shellswell gave the Terriers a 4-2 lead and May finalized the win with an empty netter. Black and Cook had 2 assists in the game, with Inglis , Shellswell and May each adding 1. Terrier bench staff include Coach Andy Long, Assistant Coaches Jason King and Aaron Tryon, Trainer Brian Shellswell and Manager Leah Black.-by Trisha Scott
