Orillia Terriers show strong team effort in Huntsville
The Orillia Starport Landing Atom AE team had a great weekend at the Huntsville Otters tournament this past weekend making it all the way to the Bronze medal game vs Mt. Brydges Cougars.  Caleb Sawyer opened the scoring for Orillia in the first period with Gordon Allen scoring Orillia’s 2nd goal.  After battling hard for 3 periods the bronze medal game was tied 2-2. Overtime showed some exciting back and forth 4 on 4 hockey where the Terriers lost the hard fought battle with only 4 seconds left on the clock in overtime. Cole Eckstein made some strong defensive plays when it counted to keep things close throughout the game.

Orillia opened the tournament with some outstanding goaltending by Sebastien Soczka shutting out the Orono Leafs 2-0. The Terriers first goal was scored by Allen with Sawyer picking up an assist. Ben Brodie sealed the deal scoring the insurance goal in the 3rd period. Andrew Billinger showed strong aggressive fore checking throughout the game.

Game 2 of the tournament saw Orillia playing to a 2-2 tie versus a tough Ingersoll Express team.  Orillia opened the scoring with a goal scored by Owen Parro and assisted by Lukas Palaro. Allen netted the 2nd goal for Orillia assisted by Layton Assance. Brodie was strong in net for the Terriers.  Ryley Black and Evan King were strong on the puck in the defensive end.

Needing a win in game 3 for the chance to play on Sunday the Terriers delivered with a powerful 7 -2 win over the Caledonia Thunder. Jasper Holenski was unstoppable for Orillia scoring a hat trick.  Brodie also scored 2 goals for the Terriers with Cole Baulkwill netting 1. Assists on the goals came from Baulkwill with 2, Peyton Hopkins, Daniel Slemin, and Sawyer. Danika Tindale was aggressive on offence helping to create scoring chances.

This was a great weekend for the Orillia Terriers Atom AE team getting a chance to show their skills against some evenly matched teams.  They worked hard as a team and improved with every game they played.
