Rama First Nation Minor Bantam Terriers win their second tournament and take Pittsburgh Columbus Day Clash

The Rama First Nation Minor Bantam Terriers claimed their second tournament championship this season in Pittsburgh during this past Thanksgiving weekend.



Following up on their tournament title in the Richmond Hill Early Bird Classic title, the team once again went defeated in tournament play. The coaches are especially proud of the team performance as they defeated an AA team and mixed minor/major bantam American lineups en route to becoming champions.

The team opened the tournament with a 3-1 win over the York Devils (Pennsylvania).  Logan Matthews took the win in net and goals were scored by Tyler Gysbers, Scott Adams, and Conner White. Zac Bell and Jacob Dewey each had an assist.

In a very tight, physical game against The Lawrence Flames (New Jersey), The Terriers managed to salvage a 3—3 tie. Bell led the way offensively with two markers and Ethan Sleep had the other. Nick Raseta earned the tie in net. White and Gysbers each contributed two helpers, while Brody Tracey had an assist also.

The floodgates opened in the Terriers third game as they pounded the New York Wheatfield Blades 6-1. White was the offensive star, scoring a hat trick to pace the attack. Jordan Burnett, Gray Sleep Carnahan and Adams had single tallies. Ethan Sleep had two assists, while single helpers went to Colten MacDonald, Jared Dewey, Carson Keddy, Tracey, Bell, Burnett and Adams. Matthews picked up the goalie win.

In a preview of the championship game, the Terriers shut out the AA Duffield Devils 3-0. Raseta turned aside all opponent shots for the shutout. Tracey buried two goals and picked up an assist, with Bell and MacDonald beating the Devils tender. Other assists went to Tracey, Adams, White and Jared Dewey. Owen Downer played a great game on defense.

In the championship game, the top seed Terriers needed to repeat their performance and prevailed 3-1 to score the title against the Devils. Chris Brown picked a great game to break out offensively burying a goal and adding an assist, while Bell and MacDonald also scored to seal the title for the Terriers on Thanksgiving Monday. Tracey, Adams, White and Jared Dewey each had an assist in the big win. Matthews got the win in the final game.
