Bantam Terriers Unbeatable in Silver Stick
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 bantam Terriers competed late November in Midland in the Silver Stick regional qualifier.



Game 1 pitted the Terriers against the Aurora Tigers. With Sean Moriarty in net, Orillia won 4-2. Jacob Dewey opened the scoring for the Terriers, assisted by Colton Macdonald. Helping with the scoring were Ethan Sleep, Macdonald and Devon Read, with assists from Owen Mihalik, Jordan Burnett and Gray Sleep Carnahan.

The team then faced off against the New Hamburg Huskies and tied 2-2.Jared Dewey scored an unassisted goal and Jack Gordon’s marker was assisted by Burnett. Logan Matthews was in goal for the Terriers.

Next, the team played the Huntsville Otters. Macdonald scored twice, with assists from Burnett (2) and Read. Jared Dewey scored one, assisted by Jacob Dewey, who scored one unassisted goal. Moriarty was in net for the 4-1 win.

In the semifinals, Orillia again faced the Huntsville Otters. The Terriers fought hard and took the win with a score of 2-1. Matthews was in net. Goals were scored by Sleep and Sleep Carnahan, with assists from Read and Jared Dewey.

In the final against the East Gwillimbury Eagles, scoring went back and forth for most of the game, but the Terriers held their lead midway through the third period to claim the 4-3 win.Macdonald opened the scoring, with an assist from Carson Keddy. Mihalik claimed the second, with an assist from Sleep Carnahan and Read. The third goal was a shorthanded marker by Burnett, assisted by Chris Brown and Macdonald. Burnett also got the fourth goal, with assists from Keddy and Jacob Dewey. Moriarty was in net.

The Terriers will take part in the Silver Stick finals Jan. 22 to 25 in Port Huron, Mich.
