Solid Start For Major Midget Terriers
The Orillia  Kelsey’s Major Midget Terriers had a stellar  start to the 2014-15 season.

They have competed in two early bird tournaments resulting in a championship in Richmond Hill, a 1-0 loss in the finals in Toronto (a game where the team was heavily depleted by injuries) and a record of 10-1 in the pre-season, outscoring the opposition 42-10. Defence has been key to the Midgets as they have outshot their opponent in every game thus far.    

In round robin play in Richmond Hill the Terriers defeated the Port Credit Storm 4-0, the Scarborough Ice Raiders 3-1, the Ajax Knights 3-1 , and the North York Knights 4-0. At the end of the third period in their semi-final game against the Richmond Hill Stars, the score was tied 2-2. After a five minute overtime period, playing three-on-three, the score remained tied, forcing a shoot-out. Orillia Terrier, George Miller scored in the shoot-out for the victory, sending the team to the Championship game against the Brampton 45’s. The Championship game was also tied after regulation and was decided in overtime. At the end of the third period the score was tied 3-3. During the five minute overtime period, playing three-on-three, Anthony Tulipano scored the championship winning goal for the Terriers. The entire squad contributed to the team’ssuccess in the tournament. Goaltenders Andrew North and Mitchell Goode shared the net-minding duties and were solid, each picking up 3 wins and each with a shutout.

In other pre-season play, the Orillia Kelsey’s Major Midget Terriers played in the Michael Hutton Early Bird September Classic Tournament hosted by the Toronto Aces and the North Toronto Hockey League. In round robin play Orillia beat North York Knights 4-1, the Toronto Blues 5-0, the Erindale Spitfires2-1, and the Halton Hills Thunder 10-0. They moved on to the Championship game but lost 1-0 in a tight checking re-match with Erindale. Mitchell Goode and Andrew North shared net-minding duties and were great, allowing only 3 goals the entire tournament with North earning 2 shutouts.
