Terriers go undefeated to capture gold at the Dunsmuir Memorial Tournament
The Mid Ontario Disposal Peewee A Orillia Terriers capped off their season in fine style going undefeated at the Dunsmuir Memorial Hockey Tournament in East Gwillimbury to capture the gold medal.
In the opening round of the tournament, the Terriers faced the Aurora Tigers and walked away with a 6-1 victory. Riding high in that win, the Terriers then faced a strong Caledon Hawks team but emerged with a come from behind 5-4 victory over the Hawks. The Terriers then faced Richmond Hill, a team they are familiar with in their regular league play. Using their speed, the Terriers skated off with a 4-1 win to advance to the Semi-Finals. In the Semis, the Terriers faced off against the Bradford Bulldogs, a team that comes out hard each and every shift. The Terriers battled for each puck possession and in the end, triumphed over the Bulldogs 3-1, earning them a spot in the Finals on Sunday. In the final game of their season, the Terriers went up against the only other undefeated team, Halton Hills. The Terriers came out flying and scored two goals in the first and two goals in the second to hang on and to capture the gold medal with a final score of 4-2. The team played well all weekend, taking care of business at both ends of the ice. It was a true team effort with point production by every player: Meguire Naughton (5g, 4a), Cole Rasmussen (5g), Carson Bussieres (4g, 3a), Will Mullen (3g, 3a), Owen Vandusen (2g, 1a), Bradley Adams (1g, 3a), Jack Marwick (1g, 1a), Aiden Colebrook (1g), Isabela Fleguel (2a), Kooper Tucci (2a), Liam McDonald (1a) and Nolan MacNeal (1a) and strong goaltending by the tandem of Coulter Taylor and Teddy McCollum-Kuntz.
