Minor Bantam A Terriers Remain Undefeated in regular season
The Rama First Nation Minor Bantam Orillia A Terriers traveled to Richmond Hill over the weekend to square off against the Stars in league play.  The Terriers opened the scoring when Kaiden Robitaille intercepted a Star’s defenceman’s pass and shot on net, the rebound went straight to Charlie Kearns whopounced on the rebound and hammered it home.  The Terriers scored late in the second period when Jakson Gerrard took the puck past the Star defender and sent the puck over to OwennBanks who made no mistake putting the puck through the Star goalie.  Andrew Thorn and Quinn McConnell each registered assists in the game; while Jackson Mitchell was in net for the shutout as the Terriers won 2-0.
Orillia then traveled to Barrie to play the second entry Barrie team.   The game went scoreless through two periods, but the third was a different story.  Orillia’s Nolan Inglis battled a Colt player and eventually he moved the puck to Gerrard who scored the goal.  Banks registered the other assist in the play.  Sam Laughlin found the net to give the Terriers the 2-0 lead, Brock Jeffels and Dawson Mattison picked up the helpers on the Laughlin goal.  Barrie was able to tie the game with back to back goals with 2 minutes to go in the third.  As the game drew to an end the Terriers pressed, but were unable to find the game winner as it ended in a 2-2 draw.  Sam Neely held the fort for the Terriers in net.
The Aurora Tigers were hosted for a mid-week tilt at West Orillia Sports Complex on Wednesday night.  Orillia’s offence started in a big way in the second period when Banks rifled a puck past the Tiger goalie.  Before the end of the second period, Jeffels deposited a power-play goal to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead.  In the middle of the third period, Gerrard jumped out after serving a penalty, received a pass from Thorn skated down and put the Terriers up by 3.  Whyatt Winkel and Jonah Teahen both scored with the empty net to give the Terriers a 5-0 win.  Mitchell collected another shutout for the Terriers.
Orillia battled the Innisfil Winterhawks on Monday night at Brian Orser arena.  Orillia came out of the gates strong and put constant pressure on the Innisfil goalie until finally Gerrard slid one past the Winterhawk goalie assisted by Mattison to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead after one period.  In a heavily dominated second period, Inglis intercepted a cross ice pass and deposited the puck into the net to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead after two periods of play.  In the third period, both teams exchanged chances, and Innisfil was able to capitalize with a little over four minutes to go.  Orillia held off the last push by Innisfil for the 2-1 victory.  Mitchell shut the door to preserve the win.
