Message to Members

Dear Members,

Welcome to Orillia Minor Hockey's 2021-22 season.

We look forward to seeing everyone at Rotary Place and Brian Orser this year! For those signed up our Preseason skates begin tomorrow night (Wednesday)!!  I wanted to send a message to all our families to welcome you back. It has been a long time since many of our members have had a chance to be on the ice together.

We feel as an organization that youth sport and extracurricular activity is vital to their physical health and mental well-being. Fortunately, the City of Orillia and Orillia Minor Hockey have managed to agree to a plan that allows our program, both House League and Rep to run typical looking seasons in a manner consistent with all public health measures.

In this light, I want to preach patience to everyone, especially in the early parts of our season. We continue to be affected by COVID-19 as we plan and daily, we need to update this. There will be some form of getting dressed prior to entry for most participants. There will be some differences in dressing room usage for our younger and older age groups. There may be some differences in how it works for game days and practice days. In fact, we may need to share changerooms in order to accomplish this. We expect more stringent vaccination policies to be instituted by the OMHA, the Government of Ontario, Public Health Ontario and by the local facility operators. We encourage all those eligible to get vaccinations. We already know that any participant 2009 and older as well as coaches, volunteers and team staff need to be double vaccinated to participate by October 31. We fully expect this to soon apply to anyone entering any facility as it has been already instituted in other Health Units.

A reminder that anyone entering the facility MUST use the online COVID screening tool from the City of Orillia before entering the facility.

OVER 18:

We are excited to finally be able to provide a program to get back on the ice!! It has been so long. Our only request is to have patience and look for updates as much as possible. We will try to keep everyone informed ASAP of any changes to protocols.
