The Rama First Nation minor bantam A Orillia Terriers continued their undefeated streak over the past week with games against Innisfil, TNT, Barrie and Aurora.

Orillia travelled to Innisfil to faceoff against the physical Winterhawks. Innisfil held three leads in the game, but Orillia was able to tie the game at three. Orillia's offence was sparked by goals from Jakson Gerrard, Sam Laughlin and Andrew Thorn, while Jonah Teahen chipped in three assists. Sam Neely kept the Winterhawks to only three goals. Whyatt Winkel and Mason Burnett had a strong defensive showing.

Orillia then headed to Alliston to face the TNT Tornados. TNT grabbed an early lead, but the seesaw affair saw the teams exchange goals in the second and third periods. Gerrard again took the charge for the Terriers as he set up the first two goals and added his own at the end of the second. His linemates, Owenn Banks and Nolan Inglis, potted goals and added assists in the contest. The game was tied until late in the third, when Burnett skated the length of the ice, stormed down the wing and took a shot at the net. The rebound ended up on Charlie Kearns's stick and he buried the game winner with 90 seconds to go. Jackson Mitchell turned away a late TNT charge to preserve the win. Dylan Arnold laced the skates up for his first regular-season game on defence, while the rest of the defence held down the fort against the TNT forwards all afternoon.

Orillia then hosted the undefeated Barrie Colts at Brian Orser Arena in a battle for first place. Minutes into the first period, Banks deposited the first goal of the game to take an early lead. Orillia's offence continued to roll as Inglis hammered a natural hat trick into the Colts' net, followed by a late goal by Kaiden Robitaille. Brock Jeffels and Dawson Mattison did a great job on the penalty kill late in the second and into third period. Thorn and Quinn McConnell helped defend the Orillia zone, while Neely turned away all but one Colts shot in a 5-1 victory. Assists in the contest went to Gerrard (3), Laughin (1), Inglis (1), Jeffels (1), Teahen (1), Kearns (1), Banks (1) and Jhett Winkel.

Orillia battled Aurora next, falling behind down early in the first but managing to tie the game when Burnett scored. Orillia had unanswered goals from Thorn, Mattison, Teahen, Laughlin and Banks, winning the game 6-1. Mitchell made a couple of highlight saves.

Orillia competed in the Jim Wilson Winter Classic this past weekend. Orillia opened the tournament against the Sudbury Jr. Wolves and won 5-1. Inglis had two goals, while Gerrard, Banks and Kearns rounded out the scoring. Assists went to Teahen (2), Laughlin, Robitaille, Banks, W. Winkel, Mattison, Inglis and Gerrard. Mitchell backstopped the win.

Orillia took on the Temiskaming Shores Puckhounds in Game 2, winning 6-1. Burnett opened the scoring on an assist from Mitchell. Q. McConnell then potted a power-play goal early in the second period, on assists from Gerrard and Banks. Inglis scored the first of two goals on the day in the middle frame. Orillia kept the pressure on as Robitaille slapped a rebound past the Puckhounds goalie, assisted by Kearns and Teahen. Mason wrapped up the Terriers scoring with a late-third-period goal. Other assists in the game went to Thorn, Arnold and Robitaille.

Orillia battled the Ottawa West Golden Knights in their final round-robin game. Mattison netted the first goal for Orillia, on an assist from Jeffels. Orillia was down 2-1 early in the third, but Teahen tied it not long after on an assist from McConnell. Banks then hammered two shots past the Knights' goalie as Orillia won 4-2. Mitchell was again in net for the victory. Thorn (2) and Mattison added assists in the game.

After going 3-0, Orillia battled local rival TNT in the semifinal to see who would face the Oshawa Generals in the finals. Orillia and TNT were pretty even until midway through the game, when Orillia's offence started to heat up. Banks scored three-straight Orillia goals and Gerrard added the final two for a 5-2 win. Neely, who battled sickness, finally strapped the pads on for the Terriers in the win. Orillia had assists from Inglis (2), Gerrard (2), Teahen (2), Banks, J. Winkel, Laughlin and Robitaille.

Orillia earned a berth in the final and opened the scoring on a Mattison rocket past the Generals goalie, assisted by Laughlin. Oshawa tied it early in the second after penalty trouble from Orillia. Burnett skated end to end late in the second period and fired one into the short side of the net. Orillia led 2-1 until late in the third, when the Generals pressed for the equalizer. The worn-down Terriers, playing their second game of the day in less than four hours, were unable to get the third goal in regulation. The game went to a shootout, when the Generals managed to slide one past Neely, while Orillia missed on all three attempts. Orillia lost 3-2 in the shootout to miss out on the home title.
