2014 International Silver Stick Champions!
The Julie Emery RBC Mortgages Orillia Terriers atom A hockey team are the 2014 International Silver Stick champions.Competing in the prestigious event last weekend in Newmarket, the Orillia skaters won six straight games over the four-day tournament to claim top prize.

In game one, the Terriers squeaked out a hard fought 2-1 victory over the Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets. The game winning goal was scored by Trenton Marlow with their other counter going to Robbie Rutledge while assists were tallied by Marlow, Whyatt Winkel, Nolan Inglis and Kaiden Robitaille. Sam Neely played a solid game in net.Game two saw the Terriers dominate in a 4-0 victory over the Essex Ravens. Backstopping the shutout was Jackson Mitchell while Brock Jeffels, Rutledge and Inglis (2) netted the goals. Austin Holenski and Robitaille had two assists while singles were added by Jhett Winkel, Rutledge and Marlow.Game three was a tough test for the Terriers who had to storm back to overcome a 3-1 third period deficit to defeat the East Gwillumbury Golden Eagles 4-3. Rutledge led the team with two goals while singles were added by Sam Trumble and Jeffels. Assisting the goals were W. Winkel (3), Owen Palaro, Sam Laughlin, Holenski and J. Winkel.Game 4 saw the Terriers eliminate the Vaughan Rangers 3-1. Scoring for Orillia were Ethan Marwick, Rutledge and Robitaille while assists went to Owenn Banks, Marlow (2), Inglis, Holenski and Trumble.The 4-0 start qualified the Terriers for the playoffs as they topped the A pool.  The semifinal game was a rematch with the Essex Ravens who came out hard looking to avenge the earlier defeat but in the end the Terriers were victorious 3-1. The game was backstopped by Jackson Mitchell who made a stunning highlight glove save to help preserve the lead. The scoring was done by Rutledge (2) and Robitaille. Holenski added two assists with single helpers going to Robitaille, Marlow and Rutledge.The win vaulted the Terriers into the coveted Silver Stick final against Woodstock. The Terriers came out with lots of jump and seemed to come at Woodstock in waves. The game never seemed in doubt as Orillia dominated most of the affair and claimed the championship 4-0. Neely had a great game in net and again the team defense was outstanding. Inglis scored two goals, including the game winner, while Rutledge and J.Winkel scored one each. Owen Palaro, Rutledge, Holenski and Jeffels each had assists.The jubilant Terriers were so proud to receive their trophy and bask in loud cheers as they completed a victory lap carrying the highly sought after “Silver Stick”. This great accomplishment will live forever in the memory of the players, parents, coaches and fans alike.The team's name will be displayed in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto along with the other current champions for one year.
