Atom AE Terriers place 3rd at Grimsby Tournament
Orillia Atom AE Terriers participated in the Grimsby Fall Classic from Oct. 17-19.
In the tournament opener the Terriers would face-off against the St. Thomas Stars. The Terriers opened the scoring in the first period on a goal by Kailem McDonald. The Stars would pull their goalie late in the 3rd period for an extra attacker and were able to tie the game 1-1 with only 30 seconds left.
In game #2 the Terriers would face the tournament host Grimsby Peach Kings. The Terriers came out strong and did not look back securing an easy 7-0 win. Dylan Arnold and Jonah Teahen led the scoring with 2 goals each, while Kieran McConaghy would chip in 3 assists. Sam Sheldon secured the shutout in the victory.
With a 1-0-1 record the Terriers claimed 2nd place in the round-robin and advanced to the semi-final game where they once again would face-off against the St. Thomas Stars. With a chance to advance to the tournament final however, the Terriers got behind 2-0 in the second period but McConaghy would score back to back goals to tie the game 2-2. The Stars would once again pull ahead 3-2 in the third. The Terriers pulled the goalie late in the 3rd but were not able to get the equalizer ending the tournament for the team.

Sheldon and Colby Small shared the goaltending duties.
The Terriers return to York Simcoe league play this weekend at home Saturday against Innisfil and in Stouffville on Sunday.
