'Classic' performance from minor peewees
The Jim Wilson minor peewee Orillia Terriers won their division at the Jim Wilson Winter Classic on the weekend.

Orillia took on the Glanbrook Rangers in game one on Friday morning to open their tournament at Brian Orser.  The Terriers found themselves down 3-0 by the mid-point in the game.  Orillia’s offence started to kick in as Hunter McLaughlin scored late in the second period.  Orillia’s Cohen Robitaille set up Marcus Petroff early in the third period to cut the lead to one.  Robitaille then scored 2 goals in 21seconds to take the lead 4-3 in the game, assisted by Petroff.  Orillia’s defence was unable to hold off as the Rangers scored late in the third to tie the game.  In the shootout, Orillia was unable to solve the Ranger goalie.  Connor Sampson took the loss for the Terriers in net.

In game 2, Orillia battled West Ottawa Golden Knights on Saturday morning. Orillia scored early and often as the Terriers won the game 6-0.  Ryker Jacobs earned the shutout in the victory.  Orillia’s scoring was from Devin Fisher (2g), Ethan Telford (1g, 3a), Chase Beiers (1g), Petroff (1g, 3a), Robitaille (1g, 1a), McLaughlin (2a), Connor Varley (2a), Eric Taher (1a) and Max McKay (1a).

Orillia again skated against the Golden Knights on Saturday night in Coldwater in a bid to earn a berth in the finals.  Orillia won the game 5-1.  Orillia’s offence was sparked by a three goal effort by Tommy Goard, on assists from Bennett Mackey (2) and Nathan Healy (3).  Orillia had goals from Petroff and Robitaille to round up the scoring.  In addition to stellar defence, Jordan Blunt and Cameron Wieshar added assists in the contest.  Connor Sampson backstopped the victory.

In the tournament final, Orillia looked to avenge their opening loss against the Glanbrook Rangers.  The Terriers were determined to win the title on Sunday afternoon.  Orillia’s Mackey opened the scoring and put two more past the Ranger goalie for his natural hat-trick.  Telford finished the scoring off a Robitaille pass in the win.  Jacobs earned another shutout in the 4-0 championship game.  Lukas Hagman and Eric Taher’s solid defence and constant pressure was notable in the game.  Goard (2), Beiers (1), Weishar (1) and Petroff (1) added assists.  Orillia celebrated with pizza and slushies from their trophy cup, as they accomplished one of their season goals.
