Minor Peewee A Terriers take down undefeated Barrie Colts
The Jim Wilson’s Minor Peewee Orillia Terriers played against Markham Waxers in their final meeting of the season.  Orillia opened the scoring when Cohen Robitaille intercepted the puck from the Waxer defender, walked in and deked the goalie out to deposit the first goal.  Orillia got into some penalty trouble late in the first period and early in the second.  Eventually, Markhamwas able to put two powerplay goals past the Connor Sampson to lead 2-1.   Late in the second period, Bennett Mackey skated up the wing and hit a streaking Nathan Healy, who slid the puck past the Waxer keeper.  Orillia then got a hard working goal from Devin Fisher on assists from Healy for their own powerplay tally.  Markham pressured and tied it at 3 on a breakaway goal midway through the third period.  Late in the game, Orillia’s Lukas Hagman intercepted a pass, moved the puck to Robitaille who found Marcus Petroff on the left side, who made no mistake in rifling a shot past the Waxer goalie.  The Terriers Sampson kicked aside the rest of the Markham attack as the Terriers won 4-3.
Orillia traveled to Barrie to face-off against the first place Barrie Colts, who were undefeated in league play.  With their work cut out, Orillia came out with something to prove.  The game was scoreless through two periods, but the Terriers were outworking and outhustling the Colts on every possession.  Barrie even had a breakaway in the game that was denied by Ryker Jacobs and then the puck was cleared away from danger by Jordan Blunt.  Orillia eventually frustrated the Colts that led to a penalty late in the third period.  Petroff took the draw on the powerplay, moved the puck forward to Connor Varley who buried the puck past the Colt goalie to take a 1-0 lead.  Orillia’s offence struck a minute later as a clean breakout from Hagman to Ethan Telford led to a pass to Fisher who muscled the puck past the goalie for their second goal of the game.  Barrie’s pressure mounted late in the period which led to one goal against Jacobs, but Orillia earned the 2-1 victory.  Every Orillia player contributed to this complete team win.
Orillia hosted the Newmarket Redmen on Saturday night in their first regular season matchup.  Orillia and Newmarket traded goals in the first period.  Tommy Goard netted the first Terrier goal on assists from Healy and Mackey.  In the second period, Max McKay potted his first of the season on assists from Telford and Robitaille to tie the game at two.  Telford scored minutes later on assists from Chase Beiers and Robitaille to take a short lived lead as the Redmen were able to tie it at 3 minutes later.  Cameron Weishar took the play in his own hands as he rushed the puck end to end and buried the puck past the butterflied goal-tender to give the Terriers the lead heading into the third period, Chase Beiers had the lone assist on the goal.  Both teams exchanged chances, but Mackey sealed the deal with an empty net goal fed from Healy.  Then Healy scored his own goal late in the game off a beautiful pass from Mackey to give the Terriers a 6-3 victory.  Sampson made three big stops to help secure the win in net.
